SHOW JUMPING RULES 2010




GENERAL
All competitors must sign a waiver form before competing for the first time for the calendar year.

CODE OF CONDUCT

  • Respect the rules of the competition
  • Respect all Fellow Competitors
  • Respect all Officials
  • Respect the rulings/decisions of the Officials
  • Maintain dignity at all times


SHOW PROTOCOL

  • Day membership and entry fees are to be paid before competitor enters the warm-up arena
  • Warmup Ring protocol to be adhered to at all times



SHOW JUMPING

Classes will be judged in accordance with the principles of the Rules of the FEI. FEI Jumping Rules can be found on
www.horsesport.org and should be checked on a regular basis as they may be updated during the year.

HORSES & PONIES

All horses and ponies competing during the year must be registered with the BEA.

DRESS CODE

For classes up to and including .90m:- Competitors must be neatly attired in non patterned , light coloured jodhpurs, riding shirt & tie, choker or stock polo shirt with sleeves in white or light colours. (no t-shirts.) and boots. Approved hard hats with properly fitting harness secured must be worn. For classes over .90m:-Dress code as per FEI Rules will apply (Art. 256 1.5 of FEI Rules)

SADDLERY

As per Art.257 1.2 in the FIEI rules, only unrestricted running martingales are allowed. Standing martingales are permitted for horses in Children's horse/pony competitions. However, the BEA will consider a child Rider 17 years and under and up to and including classes .90m

CLASSES

There will be separate ribbons presented for Adults and Children in the .70m to .90m classes. Classes above .90m will be open classes

ENTRIES

1) Entry fees must be paid before leaving the, show ground on the day of competition. All entries will be accepted at the discretion of the Organizing Committee.

2) A horse/Rider combination may enter 3 consecutive classes. If a Rider enters 3 consecutive classes then one of the following applies:

1. The lowest of the 3 heights is for a warm up only, and then they must go hors Concours, and no ribbon or Championship points awarded.

2. Use the lowest 2 heights as their Championship classes and in the 3rd class (the highest) they would be eligible for a ribbon, but their points would not be eligible for Championship

3) A rider may enter a class 3 times with a different horse/pony.

4) A horse or pony may compete a maximum of 3 times per class, provided that the height is .8Om or lower. At any height above this the horse can only compete a maximum of two times per class.

5) A horse/pony may enter a maximum of 6 times in a show.

Hors Concours
Hors Concours entries may be accepted at the Show Committee’s discretion and are subject to the same scoring rules as a regular entry, but are not judged. Hors Concours entries follow the last horse in the draw before the jump-off.

LATE ENTRIES

Late entries must go as the first horse in the class.

CRITERIA FOR CHAMPIONSHIP SHOWS 2O10

1) Championship points will be awarded to
RIDER only.

2) Should a rider ride more than one horse in a class, only the points for the highest placing will be taken for Championship points.

3) Late Entries
will be accepted for Championship points.

4) Riders must declare at which 2 heights they will use for Championship. A rider may compete at any level for championship but only 2 consecutive classes on any one particular horse.

5) Juniors will, never practical, in each category, ride first. The way of going will be done by a draw.

6) Overall Championship Points to be tallied on the best 3 results obtained at any Championship shows. Riders should therefore compete at a minimum of 3 Championship shows in 2010.

CHAMPIONSHIP SHOWS:

1) Championship points will be awarded from the .70m class.

2) Adults and juniors will be judged separately. Adults are 18 years and over at January 1st.

3) Classes over .90m will be judged as an open division.

POINT SYSTEM:

In all classes, if there are 8 or more starters,
not including Hors Concours, points will be awarded 1st " through 6th as shown below.
